Spencer tucks Emily’s head against his shoulder; her hair smells like coconut, and her perfume like jasmine. It brings a sense of homeliness he hasn’t felt since he last smelled the generic brand shampoo his mother uses. It’s home because he knows it intimately, because it held him when nothing else could. It’s home because he has no doubt it loves him.
Standing together in his doorway, holding each other because it’s the best they can do, Spencer and Emily come back to each other. It may be dependency, it may just be natural. But it can’t be wrong. It can’t be.

Evan—Buck, because he grew up while she was stuck in place—is holding her hand. He hasn't let go in… Maddie isn't sure how long. She is sure that she survived. She is sure that Chimney’s alive. She is sure that Doug isn’t. Beyond that, she isn’t sure of much.
Buck’s leg is bouncing.“You can get up if you need to,” Maddie says. Speaking makes her throat sore, but the silence is worse.
He’s shaking his head before she even finishes. “No, I’m, uh… No, I’m fine. I’m fine.”
“I don’t think you’ve sat in one place for this long in your entire life.”
“...I do kinda have to go to the bathroom.”
Maddie could make fun of him. Tell him you don’t need to raise your hand and ask, or something like that, but she knows why he won’t just get up and leave the room. He’d have to put a wall between them. He’d have to let go of her hand.

A sniffle that did not seem to be a part of House’s really bad cold—or, on the contrary, one that seemed to fit perfectly with his really bad cold; with the red-rimmed, puffy eyes, bloodshot and tired; with the pink nose that seemed irritated with incessant wiping but that didn’t run or sound stuffed up at all; with the slow, sluggish movements in his limbs, the exhausted hunch of his body, like a blanket of despair was draped over his back and weighing him down at all times.
Or, House breaks down in Wilson's office.
