    Summary

"I am so sorry," a voice yelps from behind her. "I did not—I mean—"

"Perhaps you should—" Michaela starts to admonish her attacker, whirling around to face them, but the words sputter and die in her throat before she can finish.

Michaela must admit she recognizes most of the women here. Many of them, intimately. She has already lost count of the married women who have flushed and avoided her eyeline, and she has not even been here ten minutes.

But Michaela knows she has never met this woman. She is positive, because she would have remembered meeting an angel.

    Summary

"You have lost the privilege of Frannie".

Two years ago, Michaela Stirling left a London drawing-room one evening and did not come back. She left a letter. She left, also, the woman whose hand she had been holding on a sofa some hours earlier, and to whom she had said nothing of consequence.

She is, this April, returning. There are papers to sign, a title to inherit, and a season to survive, and there are, unfortunately, only so many ballrooms in Mayfair.
Francesca Bridgerton, Countess of Kilmartin, has been waiting. Not gladly.

A literary slow-burn through the season of 1820. F/F; sixteen episodes; rated for the long view.

    Summary

In a world bound by duty and tradition.

Michaela stands apart, wealthy, independent, and unafraid to live as she pleases. Yet beneath her freedom lies a quiet struggle, torn between family ties and the pull of her heart. Meanwhile Francesca, admired as one of Mayfair’s most beautiful women, is herself caught between roles; a wife bound by expectation, a soul yearning for freedom.

Their story unfolds in the fragile spaces where tradition collides with rebellion and where love blooms not in certainty, but in between.

    Summary

“How long is this flight again?” Michaela asked.

“About ten hours,” Francesca answered while shoving her book into her backpack.

“Tits, that’s long,” Michaela hissed out. “If they let me drive the plane, we’d be there in six hours, max.”

Francesca rolled her eyes. “If they let you drive the plane, we’d be crash landing at the bottom of the ocean and touring the wreckage of the Titanic.”

Michaela hummed thoughtfully. “See, I was thinking —worst possibility— I accidentally cause another 9/11.”

    ### OR ###

After two years of grieving John, Francesca decides to spend her summer on a solo road trip through America. She’s excited for the long drives to nowhere and the peace and quiet of the journey, that is, until a certain Stirling woman crashes her plans.

“She thinks… she asked for me when she woke up so they called me. She thinks we’re still engaged.” And curse his tone too for being so sympathetic and emotional when he’s saying something that could come straight from one of Michaela’s nightmares.

“What?” Michaela scoffs. “You haven’t been engaged for-”

“Nearly two years.” He says too calmly, even as her own anxiety worsens. “She doesn’t remember that she broke it off because-” He swallows, still some pain to the statement even with his endless support. He probably loves her as much as Michaela does. He probably felt the same terrified panic that was still easing through her chest now.

“Because of me.” She whispers quietly… not a fact she had known at the time but one she was well aware of now after six months of being with her… they had just moved in together for crying out loud, what does he mean she doesn’t remember?

“She doesn’t remember that.” John’s tone is pained but quiet, gentle as he reaches out toward her, but she flinches away from his grip, her mind struggling to process the information he’s feeding her.

“She doesn’t remember… that she loves me?”
