She’d been so terrified the first time she came down from getting ready in jeans and boots. Dom liked it when she dressed up, he always complimented her, and she wanted him to think she was hot. She’d never cared about anyone else’s opinion before, but Dom was different.
But she’d come downstairs, jeans and boots and a shirt that was no different than the one she’d been wearing to change the oil on her car earlier except that it was cleaner, and he’d looked up at her, and smiled that big warm goofy smile she loved so much, and said, “Well look at you,” just as appreciative and genuine as he ever had been when she dressed up, and it had been like a weight lifting off her shoulders.
