A man descends from the upper hall, down the staircase, with no rush. Rather, he looks cautious, which is odd for someone bold enough not to lock his doors. The bright full moon on the window behind him almost makes it seem like it’s a clear night, but Goro knows better, still feeling the rainwater that seeped into his coat and shoes.
Step. Step. Step.
The blues of the night mix with the reds of the carpets, vases, paintings–his eyes.
As their gazes meet, even from a distance, Goro can tell they are something special. They remind him of bats' eyes, light reflecting on them, making them glow. He wants to step closer to make sure that the flicker of red in them wasn’t a trick of the light, but he remains frozen in place. -
