Detective's Shuichi Saihara and Rantaro Amami have been entrusted with stopping for the criminal once and for all.
Kaede Akamatsu is nothing but a free lance pianist. Well, she's that and Shuichi's childhood friend. When the Phantom Thief starts showing more and more interest in Kaede, Shuichi finds out she may be what they need to solve this case.
After meeting Ouma, a boy with a rather unique gaze, Kaede finds herself spending more and more time with him and the Phantom Thief. However, in doing so she only is left more confused about her emotions than before.

“Hi Master Diluc,” Venti giggles, braids windswept and beret askew. “Happy Windblume Festival!”
It’s only through years of practise that Diluc keeps his expression perfectly neutral, a single eyebrow raised. “You seem especially energetic this evening. It doesn’t happen to be because you’re expecting free Windblume drinks off me, does it?”
“You have no faith in me!” Venti whines, unwinding one of his arms from around Diluc’s neck to poke at his nose. Diluc scrunches it involuntarily. “Even though that is part of it…” he mumbles, then continues cheerfully. “But no! I have a gift for you~”
(or, Venti gives Diluc a flower crown, and Diluc lets him get away with far too much)

But tonight, all it does is worry her further. “I doubt the Tenryou Commission will ever act against your family that quickly. Especially not by force. I don’t think even the Raiden Shogun would risk upsetting the balance of Inazuma like that, especially right after closing its borders. It could spark a civil war.”
“That’s not the main thing I’m concerned about tonight,” she mutters, frowning. Thoma was always quick to think about her, or her family, but rarely about himself. Did he not realize how valuable he was as a member of the clan?

Summary
Wading in the water with her wasn’t something that someone who was just a retainer did, no matter how much that said retainer wanted to anyway. That act was reserved for friends, for real friends, and not those whose lines were blurred in the name of service.
Or whose lines were blurred because one of them was stupidly in love.
Love wasn’t necessarily part of his job description, but there Thoma was, doing it anyway. Quietly. Without the intention of Ayaka ever finding out.
