Summary
When Zanka was six, he tried poison for the first time. His father, a shoo-in for some position or another, had been targeted by an assassination attempt. So as a precaution, all the Nijikus - even little Zanka - had to prepare for any scenario. They ran drills until their fingers bled, doubled down on self-defence technique, and started ingesting small bits of poison to build up an immunity.
Eleven years on, Zanka doesn't live with his family anymore, but his life certainly is in danger thanks to one poison obsessed individual. Jabber is crazy, competitive, and the only thing Zanka’s been able to think about for weeks. Each time he faces a poison-tipped claw, he can’t help but wonder if he’s building up an immunity or falling into a new addiction.

Not surprisingly, it only took Zanka a few steps to realize that he hadn't been magically teleported to a faraway land. Instead, he realized that his body felt weird, lankier, taller. His limbs felt awkward and uncoordinated. He could feel that the clothing on his skin felt different, that the usual training gear had been exchanged for a scrappy and thin shirt paired with shorts full of patchwork. Jabber whistles appreciatively, "Man, you're in a mood today. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" and cackles at his own joke. Zanka's gonna strangle him. He's gonna rip out those bars with his bare hands and use them to beat Jabber to death.
