Summary
Rose's mood plummets further. ‘Ginny is probably horrified she had to share a room with evil me this summer.’
‘Now that can’t be true,’ Ron protests, shaking his head instantly. ‘With the way she kept yapping my ears off about you all summer – bloody hell, make that all my life, she’d probably join you if you were the heir of Slytherin.’ He frowns. ‘Maybe she’s avoiding you till she feels worthy of being your second-in-command. You have to tell her the spot’s taken, Rose.’
‘You’d be my second-in-command?’
Ron nods. ‘Played the twins for it last week.’

Summary
Neville Longbottom's first thought upon being sorted in Gryffindor is, wow, I did it.
His second thought follows immediately: I don't belong here.
If he had been kinder to himself, his third thought would have been, (yet) .
After all, it's silly to think seeds are meant for a particular garden or a particular pot. Only when they take root and grow can one truly say they belong to a soil, and their soil to them.

Summary
Lily Potter wouldn't have taught her daughter silly beliefs such as, darling, boys pull your hair to show you they care. Nor would Lily Potter have raised a son that touched a girl's hair without asking.
But Lily is dead, and Rose Potter gets her hair pulled by Dark Lords and other jerks.

Summary
“There is a war on,” Rose says evenly, “more important things are at stake than my life.” But Severus Snape disagrees – and the potion master is more than willing to make sure that Rose Potter’s survival is not entirely left in her own hands.
Rose is not about to trust him completely, though. For one, she’s sure he went insane, because he’s sending her to ninjas.
He said, "They might have a key, and you might live from their knowledge". Looking at the sharp end of a kunai, Rose Potter isn’t so sure.

Summary
Despite his parents' wishes and plans, Harry James Potter grows up knowing very little about love. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to put his faith in something.
He’s very practical about the whole thing. Father Christmas is a story for children that Harry never believed in. He isn’t going to start now – not with jolly old Saint-Nick, not with the Easter Bunny, not with the Tooth Fairy. He’s also holding out on any human-loving omniscient deity. The thought of someone who ought to love him but couldn’t be bothered tastes like ash on his tongue: he will not dwell on it.
The whole thing leaves him in a bit of a pickle. That is, until Gracie dies.
(or, Harry becomes Death's champion before becoming its master.)
