Sorry I’m not there to greetcha like I’d let on, but I’ve decided to play the hard-to-get game that all the kids seem to be into these days. (I personally think the way I word-vomited out a confession at your feet only a short time after I’d realized my feelings was infinitely more romantic, but that ain’t the point, so moving on.)
Rolling his eyes fondly, Shouyou flips over the card.
In order to find me, this afternoon, you’ll be going on a quest to collect 10 of these notecards, along with a couple of extra things at certain stops. It’s not quite a scavenger hunt, because I’m not creative enough to come up with witty clues, so their locations will be pretty obvious. But until you’ve hit all 10 spots, your Uber won’t come to pick ya up and bring ya to me. So bring a backpack, and have fun!

Summary
I thought it would be really funny if, instead of finding out about Merlin's magic and having one episode to react, Arthur instead spent a whole season being an absolute prat about the whole thing. Here are some things I've imagined from this scenario, set in that magical period between Season 3 and 4 when the knights of the round table were running around being chaotic dumbasses and stealing chickens.
"Merlin," yelped Arthur, outraged and relieved in equal measure. "What on earth are you- Is this what you meant by powerful, ancient magic? You can make your eyes go sparkly and then fix people's clothing?"
Merlin stopped short and rubbed the back of his own neck awkwardly. "Among other things, yes."
"And you've been moping around all day about this?"
"You didn't believe me! I was baring my soul to you and you were so arrogant that you just-"
"You told me that you'd saved my life a hundred times with the mystical power of your warlock skills," said Arthur, wiggling his fingers as though casting a spell. "Not that you were hiding the ability to dress me more efficiently."

"What if it isn't anyone?" the first of Merlin's hunting trip acquaintances, Lord Valden Had an Incredible Proportion of People with Nice Hair, inquired.
"It has to be someone," Arthur responded, "or I can't imagine the spell would take effect in the first place. I believe it's the case with most magic that there has to be a tradeoff."
Merlin hadn't thought about it quite like that. Arthur could actually be rather intelligent when he wasn't inviting people to hit him in the head with sharp objects.
