Written for the 2026 Sweetheart Challenge!
Nicholas was someone inherently easy to love. It wasn't that he was gorgeous, though, with his ample chest and handsome nose, he was certainly very easy on the eyes, and easy on the mouth as well. He was just a kindhearted person, strong enough to not only do the unpleasant tasks, but also kind enough to attempt to protect others from the world's cruelties. He was so loving, you could see it in his grey eyes, no level of abuse or hardship ever able to remove that from him.

After an unfortunate encounter with a troubled teenager, Wolfwood ends up needing some comforting of his own.

Summary
It was on a morning like that where Vash woke to the noise of birds chirping what he liked to imagine were little bird love songs to each other. The early morning sun drifted sleepily through the window, warm and sugar sweet.
It would be lovely, romantic, even, if this weren’t a dingy motel, with a cracked ceiling, and dusty floor. It would be romantic if they didn’t have to leave tomorrow, lest they avoid getting shot or hounded by bounty hunters.
