Tommy blinks faster at tears. He opens his mouth but his breath hitches. He just needs to say something, anything.

The knife is raised and Tommy shuts his eyes and pulls all the strength in him into this one act.
"WILBY WAIT!!" He manages to scream, his voice echoes off the walls of the warehouse and it's silent. A beat or two passes and Tommy opens his eyes to see the end of the blade only an inch from his face. Basically stroking his eye.
