What if Agatha Van Helsing met Count Dracula aboard the Demeter as it sailed to England, instead of at the gates of the convent?
“Well, how could I have missed you?” Count Dracula exclaimed. “A nun! Oh, how absolutely perfect!”
Agatha nodded politely at him.
“I am Sister Agatha Van Helsing of the St. Mary’s convent, Budapest.” She saw no need for mystery with this man.
“And I am Count Dracula of Transylvania, not too far away from you … a wonder we haven’t met.”
Agatha laughed. His geography was entirely out. She remembered now the unfortunate lapses in education that noblemen sometimes suffered from.
“At a mere 700 kilometers away and me locked away in a convent, our paths are unlikely to have crossed–”
“Until now,” he interrupted, smiling widely and dark eyes rapt. He held out his hand. “So distance didn’t keep us apart in the end.”
