Florian lets out a tsk, and Matthias feels it in his flesh when Florian pulls his wrists closer to his face. The cross hangs in the air, threatening to touch Matthias’ face at any given second, and Matthias is unable to flinch away with the hands that keep him in place.
“Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods—” Florian grits his teeth through these words; Matthias doesn’t dare to look at him anymore. “—do not demand them back. But sister, it’s just so hard to follow His words when a man has so little to offer, while the other already has so much and still craves for more. You understand it, right?”

“Florian…” Slowly, Matthias blinks with realization, and something in Florian’s eye seems to shine upon hearing his name. His idle finger plays with a page from the book in his hands, anchoring him to reality. “Yes, I— I remember you,” how could I forget? “Hard to forget,” Matthias attempts to mimic his words with an awkward smile, but he feels stupid for doing so with cheap social skills— until Florian laughs warmly in return.
“What a pleasant surprise to see you here on Oletus campus of all places!"

The man — Puffing — outstretched his hand, to which Philemon took a look in confusion for a few seconds. Acting cordial just seemed to be the best Philemon could do to not raise suspicions.
“Philemon,” the librarian answered shortly, barely returning the handshaking gesture.
“Philemon,” Puffing’s lips increased. Back then Philemon was unable to tell what made the man say his name with so much gusto.
