“Yes, I’m fine with it,” Ryuunosuke was firm with his response. This has been a conversation they’ve had four times this week alone with nothing new said, simply going around in a circle. “This chance is too good for everyone for me to pass on for personal feelings.”
“But it’s more than just that. I feel like I’ve taken something from you and feel guilty for it,” his father confessed. “You’ll be the first crown royal in generations to not pick their own suitor, and the arrangement is rather unusual and peculiar.”
“Things are different now. We’ve been isolated and vulnerable for so long, we can’t stay this way forever. If marrying another prince I don’t know keeps this nation safe for generations to come, it’s something I’d be willing to do in a heartbeat. Regardless of how peculiar it may be."

“Well I’m sure whatever you pick you’ll look amazing in.” That compliment gathered a small smile from the Knight.
“I know but… What would other people think if I showed up to the dance in…” she trailed off “In a dress.”

They continued to walk in silence for a few more minutes before a faint pattering started from behind them. In Mirio’s estimates, the steps were coming from 3 yards away at most, but likely to be closer. Someone was following them, no there were two sets of footsteps so it was two people. The weight was light, which would usually indicate that the person is smaller, but you can never be too careful, especially when the girl being babysat has a quirk that villains put a lot of value in. Mirio sped up his own stride as a first line of defense, if those behind him weren’t pursuing them, their steps would fade into the distance. He’d also decided that a simple shake off method would be better to slip into than to turn around and engage with the strangers. It’s a possibility that they’re just kids out for a walk and to be no danger, but if it was a villain on their trail, Mirio’s quirklessness would put them at an extreme disadvantage.
