Summary
“I’m Ryland Grace, from the third floor.”
Dangling at his side, his hand felt useless and exposed. Ryland stuck it out instead; the man’s eyes snapped up and Ryland noticed they were a light blue.
Supple leather slid into Ryland’s hand, grasping him with a firm grip, pumping twice. Ryland stared, feeling warm.
“I’m also on the third floor,” the guy said softly, startling Ryland into looking up again.

Or, Ryland gets a new neighbor and is mostly normal about it.

Summary
“I’d like to do this for you, Grace.” Driver smoothly unlocked the passenger side door, opened the glove box and took out a hand towel which he offered to the older man. “If you’d let me.”
Grace found the confidence to look back at his student. Wrong decision. Driver held a small, almost timid smile, giving the general aura of a dog stuck out in the rain despite being the one who was dry.
“Please.” Driver added.
Damn it! An earnest ‘please’ was one (of many) of Grace’s weaknesses!
Or: A 40-year-old Grace who's a GED prep night schoolteacher and just a little bit insecure gets offered a ride home by a 20-year-old Driver, who is head over heels for his teacher. They spend a wonderful night together, but Grace can't seem to get over his very conflicted feelings about the whole situation.

Summary
"Sorry for trying to kill you, but it wouldn't have worked, anyway. There's no ammo in this thing, and I'm running low on this one.”
Bryan nearly gives Leon a heart attack when he lifts his shirt and shows a haphazardly stuffed handgun that's sticking out of the waistband of his jeans.
“Don't put that there,” Leon says hurriedly, willing his heart to calm down. He keeps imagining the horror of it going off and blowing clean through Bryan's femur. “And - hey, wait. That's a standard glock that's issued to all American officers. Did you steal that?”
Bryan at least has the decency to blush in embarrassment as he hastily shoves the hem of his shirt back down.
