An old man sits cross legged on the tatami floor between them; bisected by the contrast and laughing a harsh, bellowing thing with a gourd sitting in his right hand.

Summary
He jerked left and sent the letter opener through the pursuer’s lower abdomen. Shikamaru stared to the injury and froze, his eyes still widened in shock at his own rashness. He had acted on reflex. He had acted on fear and sent the object straight through the stranger’s skin. The Nara looked up to the person’s face shakily before backing away nervously. He could not believe what he had done. He stared to pale, frozen eyes that were fixed on him. Their owner stood unmoving as black soaked the white of the person’s top.
“I – I’ll call an ambulance,” he said as he punched the digits, “I’m sorry, just…” but once he glanced back to where the stranger had been, no one was there.
