Her hair was braided tightly down her back, and her jersey clung to the kind of arms that made Zoey do a double take.
She smiled and gave a casual wave, trying to be charming. A simple, friendly hello.
They didn’t wave back.
They didn’t do anything, actually, just looked at her. Then a coach called them over, and they turned away without a word.
Zoey blinked, her hand still mid wave. Rude.

Mira’s chest was rising and falling too fast, her fists flexing at her sides. “What was what? He was trying to hit on you right in front of me.”
“So what?” Rumi shot back, though her cheeks burned. “You didn’t have to bite his head off!”
“Of course I did!” Mira’s voice rose, then faltered. She dragged a hand through her hair, glaring at the floor like it had personally offended her.
“Why?” Rumi asked, heart beating thunderously through her chest.
Say it, say it, say it. Say why you did it. Say that I’m yours. You have every right to be jealous. Just say it, Mira.

Mira’s gaze follows to where Rumi is pointing and sees it just in time. A glimmer of gold waving through the Honmoon.
“Holy shit,” Mira mutters.
Zoey’s eyes widen. “Was that…?”
“A glimpse of the golden Honmoon,” Rumi fills in the question, her eyes shining brightly. “I think our fans like for us to be an item.”

“I know!” Nico throws her hands in the air with such flair Karolina is half expecting her to break out in a song, “It'd be weird, if you weren’t so damn likeable. Whatever, give your mom a coronary, then.”
“That I can get behind.”
“Good. Date me.”
She chokes on her coffee, barely avoiding a full on spit take by sheer strength of will alone. “What?” she chokes out when she feels like her lungs have gone back to reside in her ribcage instead of wandering around her oesophagus.
Nico ignores Karolina's struggle for air with nonchalance and takes her hand in hers kneeling on the kitchen's crumb covered tiled floor. “Karolina Dean, will you date me to piss off our families?"
