After losing his powers in the quest to defeat Aizen, Ichigo has endured 16 long months of depression fueled days. Similarly, Rukia, too, has endured those 16 long months, shouldering the guilt of all that has happened and unsure of what to do next.
Kind of another hyperfixation story cause I'm stuck on the IchiRuki side of things lately. Hopefully more updates to come. Kinda ignoring the Fullbring Arc? Maybe the TYBW arc too? Haven't decided just yet. Enjoy!!

Summary
The 9th lord of the Hueco Mundo kingdom, Aaroniero Aarurieri, in hopes of securing a seemingly "diplomatic" alliance with the Kuchiki Castle, asks Lord Byakuya for the young princess Rukia's hand in marriage, however he gets rejected twice. In a fit of frustration and desperation, he poses an ultimatum of threat to the Kuchiki princess herself, while King Byakuya is absent. Lord Aaroniero sends his most trusted general Ichigo Kurosaki to deliver the message with a secret scroll.
Rukia is "forced" to meet the enemy's messenger with an unusual orange hair in a very unconventional, untraditional and quite extraordinary manner.
It doesn't help that on a previous meeting, at the spur of sarcasm and hot-headedness, she said a sentence towards Kurosaki's address that would cause a scandal in the court:
- I'd rather marry and produce an offspring with that orange-haired frowning warrior of yours than spare you as much as a mere touch on my hand, Lord Aaroniero.

God, she hated asking for things. See, being “sick” also meant having to be vulnerable, to allow others to offer help and to actually accept it. Being “sick” meant that she couldn’t just do everything on her own like she was used to—like she wanted.
But the prospect of days of isolation… yeah, that was enough to scare her into asking Maki to stay. Honestly, it’s enough to scare her into begging Maki to stay with her.
Maki’s eyes softened, their hands finding their way back in her hair. “Of course, darling. I’ll be here as long as you’ll let me.”
