Robert tried to crawl away, but was grabbed from behind. Blood seeped into the collar of his work shirt as the man dragged him into the bathroom. The bang of the door slamming shut behind them rang in Herm’s ears.
He was moving before he could even think about it.
Herm kicked the restroom door in, water bubbling in the back of his throat. The man had Robert pinned against a large, cracked mirror on the back wall, his hands firmly around the hero’s throat. Robert’s eyes were round and panicked as his hands scrambled around for anything to help him.

The car went silent.
Beatrice peeked at Wirt. Then she reached to the radio and turned up the volume. She began to quietly sing the lyrics. Her voice came out exactly the way Wirt was feeling; shaky and nervous. "Hey, little songbird, let me guess...he's some kind of poet and he's penniless..."
Wirt threw his head back, a long cry leaving his lips. "Oh my god!"
