Hours had passed since he first laid and closed his eyes. He could almost feel the earth shift into activity and the warmth of his body shift. He could guess that the sun had risen if he chose to fill his head once more. A mundane morning as pleasant as a dream.

In the mountains of Liyue, a piece of paper sat on a billboard, with such ominous words:
"...But this ‘human’ is destined to be a wanderer in this world, and the body exudes an aura that does not belong to this world. If I want to forcibly keep them close to me, it will only increase the sadness…Thus I suppressed my heart...But everytime I see this human get attached to others, I feel hate. How can I continue to tolerate this betrayal?"

Summary
Xiao remembered touching her once. He'd caught her when she was falling from the crumbling Jade Chamber and held her by the waist, throwing her arm over his shoulders as she got her breath back, even squeezed her hand like one of the yakshas had done for him – who had it been? It was only a blurry silhouette in his mind now. He wished he could remember.
How had he grasped her hand without crushing her fragile fingers in his unrelenting grip?

Summary
This world hasn't seen peace for many years.
Now that the war is finally over and everyone is trying to get used to the new reality, an aspiring novelist Lumine embarks on a journey to find a silver lining in all the violence that had been a faithful companion of the passing turbulent times. In search of inspiration, she finds herself in Hépíng - a small Liyuean village that borders both vast cultivated fields as well as sharp and daunting stone peaks.
Xiao settled in Hépíng right after the war. He's a man of simple wishes - to survive each day and to wake up to see another one, without any disturbances. Little does he know that the arrival of a novelist from the faraway Fontaine will show him that life isn't there for the pure sake of surviving - but for living itself.

It’s hard to wake up in the Country. Hard to find purpose for each and every day that passes. Hard to wake up alone. No feline curled up at his head. No large form by his side. Asher rolls over to look at the empty space beside him and places a hand where Grant should be if he were here.
