    He scrunched his nose, a small confused sniffle, and repeated the word to make sure. “Dad?” 

    Him?!

    - OR ! :
    Enjin was not, had never been, and would likely never be a dad - regardless of the fact that he legally had kids. Except .. it just so happened that when one of those kids lost himself to a headspace smaller than usual, Enjin sort of did become a dad. That was okay, he could be a dad sometimes. Probably.
