Summary
After her mother's death, the holidays were difficult for Julie. Just when she finally thinks she is ready to embrace them again she is slapped with a cruel disappointment that leaves her swearing off Christmas and it's supposed magic forever.
Luke has always loved Christmas, because it's literally magical for him and his family in a way most post people can't imagine. Unexpectedly he finds himself facing down a tight and dangerous deadline, with a nearly impossible solution.
Maybe fate will show both of them the real magic of the holiday season.

Julie Molina expected many things on her impromptu road trip to Texas. She expected Flynn to be confused but ultimately supportive; she expected to relax and gain a new perspective; and she expected (or at least hoped) to rediscover the music she’d lost over the past year. What she did not expect was to be bunking with cranky rancher Luke Patterson, or the mysterious (and quite possibly magical) karaoke bar that would lead them on an adventure full of new friends, dangerous enemies, fun music, and a whole lot of love.

3. Avoid revealing that she can no longer use her magicIt’s not healthy, she knows, shut up. But she's sad, and it's easier to fade into the shadows than to try and hold onto the colorful world that followed her mother wherever she went.
Too bad all three of those goals get completely shattered the night she’s compelled to sing a song she was compelled to write and summons a being made of light that she’s compelled to help.
Yeah, and you thought your day was rough.
Now, as she gets to know the light more and comes to understand who he is and what he means, both to the world and to her, she’s determined to find him, free him, and bring him home.
And who knows? What goes around comes around after all; maybe freedom can go both ways.
