Summary
Nie ZongHui leaves behind a son, a nine year old boy called ZongHeng. When Nie MingJue and Nie HuaiSang return from Sword Sacrifice Hall, they need to tell Nie ZongHui's son that his father has died. Nie MingJue is at a loss, and HuaiSang steps up, accepting the responsibility to care for the boy and to help him through the mourning process.
This is the first section of a series. In the prologue, we will see how HuaiSang fares adopting the child Nie ZongHui left behind when he died at the end of Fatal Journey.We will eventually follow HuaiSang and ZongHeng throughout the years. There will be Jiang WanYin/Nie HuaiSang eventually, but it will 70000 words to get there. So I am not going to put that up as pairing yet!

Nie Huaisang plasters on a smile – he hopes it doesn’t look too fake – and he glances at the pretty woman seated beside Jiang Wanyin. He cocks his head to the side, eyebrow rising slightly. “She’s a beauty. Where did you two meet?”
“In the hospital,” the woman supplies. “He was my patient.”
“Fantastic,” Huaisang comments dryly. He looks over at Jiang Wanyin. “Care to tell me the whole story?”
The couple looks at one another, sharing a sheepish smile before they begin the nightmare Nie Huaisang, Jiang Wanyin’s husband, is about to sit through.
This isn’t going to be easy.

The origin of the word ‘cutsleeve’ is romantic in nature.
When an emperor got up from his bed, his sleeve was trapped under his sleeping lover. Loathe to disturb his lover’s rest, the emperor cuts his sleeve instead and left quietly, no matter how improper that action may be.
Jiang Cheng may not be a cutsleeve, but he too, would cut any part of his clothes, just to make sure his husband gets the rest he deserves.
