“We were playing bionic tag,” Chase started, straightening to his full height of 3’5”. “And I jus’ was thinking about what you said to us about Einstein, about how gravity bends space?”
Donald felt his eyebrows rise. “Okay…?”

Arthur lifted his mug, but did not drink. His gaze was set on the fire. “He’s dead then?” he asked, voice matter-of-fact.
Kai glanced down, hand coming to rest on the hilt of the axe in his belt. Its blade now carried a small chip: a remnant of it being stuck in the tree. “Mark was going to run me through,” he said after a quiet moment. “The Saxon took the blade for me.”
He wasn’t sure Roland had meant to.

“Happy birthday!” Keith cheers, running to the bed and flinging himself at Shiro.
Shiro hardly manages to catch him, letting out a startled laugh as he topples back into the sheets with a bundle of ten-year-old in his arms. “Whoa there, someone’s cheery this morning.”
He raises an eyebrow as Keith looks up from where he’d squished his face against Shiro’s chest, his hair a dark, ruffled mess on his head. “Adam says I can’t be grumpy today.”

Ending up in the Governor's office with Oliver bloody Twist, Norbert Fagin and the parents of the woman he loves, most of whom would be delighted to see him hang, is one of those extraordinarily unlucky moments.

One day after the end of Season 1 Episode 8, Belle wakes up to find Jack holding her hand.
Waking felt as if she were swimming to the surface from the bottom of this sea. A difficult desperate swim upward only to land in her own body, exhausted and weary. She woke to the feeling of warm fingers against her wrist and soft, familiar voices. She turned her gaze toward the human warmth and saw him.
“Jack,” she breathed.
Jack didn’t speak, just gently turned her hand in his so that he could brush his chapped lips against her knuckles.
