Summary
Part 3 of the Save Who You Can Save Trilogy. (If you've not read the others I'll catch you up, with what you need to know.)
After the events of Dangerous, Joel is recovering in the clinic in Jackson. Tommy comes to visit and Ellie is there guarding him while he sleeps. They get to talking and Tommy tells Ellie the story of the first days of the outbreak. So far, this is canon-compliant for the TV show, although I've not played the game so we'll see how long that lasts. Rated for all the usual TLOU stuff.

Summary
Ellie wakes up alone in the Salt Lake City hospital—drugged, disoriented, and separated from Joel. When she overhears Marlene plotting her execution and Joel’s, she escapes, bloodied and barefoot, making her way across the city to save him. Together, they leave a trail of dead Fireflies behind: Dr. Anderson among them, Marlene left broken but breathing.
They make it back to Jackson—battered, haunted, but alive. For a while, they find peace. They try to forget. To heal. Ellie starts to believe she might have a future. Joel dares to hope she’ll be safe.

Summary
Doctors come in and out. There isn't much more they can do. She's yelled and screamed and cursed about it. Didn't change anything. They did what they could. All she can do is wait. Fucking useless.
He's lost so much blood. She wanted to give him some, but they're not the same blood type. Of course they're not. Maybe they would be if she were his daughter, but she's not. She's not.
He's lost so much blood. So much blood running through her fingers. Ellie wipes her hands on her jeans. It doesn't help.
He's stilI. Too still. But his chest lifts and falls, and that has to be enough.

Or, the one where Ellie saves Joel from Abby, and they get to try and mend what has been broken between them for so long.
