    If someone had told TK ten years ago that he would eventually spend his heats present, sober, and loved, being doted on by the sweetest Alpha imaginable, he would’ve asked for a hit of whatever they were smoking. Before Carlos, he settled for pain and fear; that was, back then, the only way to get what he felt like he needed.

    But he doesn’t settle now. He’s settled down, but that’s far from settling for less. He’s happy, and the heats he gets to spend with Carlos are like something out of a dream.

    The only thing that would make his heats more perfect is if he could give Carlos a child. For years, every heat was punctuated with the pain of test after test and hours of crying together, as they grieved for something they both knew, deep down, would never happen.

    But they’re okay, now. He’s made peace with the dysregulation and dysfunction of his body and with the fact that it will never give him the one thing he so desperately wants. He has Carlos. That’s what matters.

    After years of heartache, TK and Carlos finally get the one thing they want more than anything else.

    It's not that simple; nothing ever is. But it's worth every second of heartache.
