Summary
"Holy shit."
Jason doesn't mean to say it out loud, but— he knows that name. Knew it? Knows.
Because Tim Drake is the same kid who gave him a fake name on a rooftop his first year as Robin. The same kid with a too-large camera around his neck and stars in his eyes even through the obvious panic.
(He has to bite his tongue to stop himself from blurting out the name Alvin Draper and giving everything away. It's almost physically painful not to ask if he's majoring in photography or some other art bullshit like Jason. Is he okay? Did he stop running around on Gotham roofs in the middle of the night?)

Summary
(Catherine's smile is soft. Her hands are the same way, gentle as they card through Jason's hair. She loves him like this, when she's sober enough to remember what love is.)
(She loves him when she's high, too, but it's the kind of love that makes Jason's skin crawl. She begs him for forgiveness, crying and telling him she loves him, until they kick in enough for her to pass out.)
But it's not Catherine who pulls him from his second grave.

Summary
Jason transforms for the first time at just five years old.
His mom— Catherine, his real mom— had been too high to panic, but she certainly hadn't handled it well, either. She locked him away in his room every full moon until he learned how to control his shifts, praying the neighbors were too drunk or afraid of the cops to bother calling in the mournful howls coming from the worn-down apartment next to them.
It had felt like a curse for a long time. Something to be locked away and buried so deep he could never find it again.
(It had been a curse until he needed to make rent or pay hospital bills every time his mom overdosed. Nobody thinks the weird, mangy puppy on the streets is going to steal from them the way they do when it's a starving kid.)
(People fed him more when he was a dog, too.)

Summary
"Hold position," Batman's growl comes low over the comms, cutting through the loud, worried voices of his siblings. "Nightwing is en route. Red Robin— find Crane. Robin— with me."
A flurry of voices call out affirmatives, and Jason lets himself slump against the wall. He can already feel the effects of the fear toxin, crawling up his throat and pressing deep into his lungs. Choking, freezing—
(Burning, like being caught in a warehouse while the fire from a bomb washes over him and the smoke fills his lungs. Like rubble crushing his ribs to dust and puncturing his lungs. Like a manic laugh and Sheila Haywood's muffled pleas for help while Jason's body was broken over and over under a bloodied crowbar.)

Summary
He trips over his own feet in the rush to check himself out in the mirror again. Like he thought, the crook in his nose is gone. He's missing other things, though, too— a tooth that chipped pretty bad during movie night with Dick, a few of the fainter scars on his chest, and—
Jason ruffles the hair by his left ear and then snaps his fingers. The sound is clear again in a way it hasn't been in years.
(That should have been his first clue. He lost a good portion of his hearing during that final confrontation with Bruce— between the gunshots, explosion, and the fact that his helmet was off, Jason had never been able to fully repair the damage done to his ears.)
(Everything is so loud now.)
or Jason travels back in time and wakes up in the Lazarus pit. Things go a little silly from there
