Set pre-lightning strike. After being reprimanded about the man in yellow by a disbelieving Joe one time too many, Barry decides to leave the CCPD behind him. 600 miles behind, to be exact.
He could apply to be SCPD’s new forensic tech, but that wouldn’t really be leaving things behind. And the man in yellow who always appears in Barry’s dreams keeps him awake in time for night shifts, anyway.
Which works out in his favor, since the nightclub Verdant has a job opening.

“I killed him.” With shaking a hand, Tim pointed at the man breathing unsteadily on the ground. The pool of blood beneath his head was growing larger. “I hit him too hard, I didn’t mean to, it was an accident!” He was rambling, he knew, but this was bad.
“What?” Jason sounded genuinely perplexed, but also angry. Though, Tim supposed in his half-dazed mind, Jason always sounded vaguely angry. “What the fuck are you talking about, Replacement?”
“Bruce,” Tim gasped out. “He’s— he’s gonna hate me. I’m sorry, I’m sorry—”
“Hey!” Jason’s sharp bark snapped Tim back to himself. He was shaking, but Jason’s hand was steady on his shoulder. “Baby bird. Look at me.”
“I killed him!” Tim jerked away from Jason, but the older man held him firmly. “I don’t wanna get kicked out, I can’t go through that again—”
Jason didn’t let him finish. With a swing of his arm and a deafening gunshot, Jason buried a bullet in the man’s head.
“There,” he said, shrugging. “You didn’t kill him. I did.”
Tim was hyperventilating.

However, given that he'd been working with him for a while now, Peter liked to think that he was well prepared for the next time Neal decided to do something that changed their perception of who Neal Caffrey was.
At least until he pulled up to June's one day to see Neal acting as if nothing was different.

Tim Drake never actually wanted to become part of the Robin-Batman-vigilante outfit. No, really. But the last Robin up and died, and now Batman is going crazy, and no one else is doing anything about it, so...Tim decides to become Robin. He might as well, right? At the very least it'll give him something to do while his parents are gone.
Still, Tim's not taking up the mantle until he can put a couple of things in order. Step one? Making sure the Joker can't get it into his head to kill another Robin. Not ever again. (Good thing Tim's not the one with a 'no killing' rule.)
And then after that? Well, after that it's only just a matter of keeping Batman from learning Tim's identity and subsequently chasing him off. Not until Bruce can get back on his feet and pick a new Robin, a real one this time. Easy-peasy.

He notices when it snaps.
He’s in the manor when it happens, a cup of coffee in his hands as he stretches his legs on his way back to his office. He’s not thinking about anything important, absently running through the quarterly reports in his head for the meeting he has in the next hour.
