His name is oft spoken - by merchants fearful of the ghosts of Wuwang Hill as a superstition to ward them off, by travelers to Wangshu Inn paying respect, or by lost souls pleading for salvation at Guyun.
His is a name meant to exist on the winds from here to perpetuity, long after this body has worn out, for it is a name gifted by the Lord of Geo and as such, is meant to serve the people of his land.
And it is a fine name, a title meant to be carried with respect, with reverence … with the same hope Rex Lapis had once granted Xiao.
But tonight, his name reaches him in a different way.
Carried on the winds from the distant shores of Liyue Harbor, his name echoes in an odd way - in a sigh, in a whisper … in a moan wreathed in, frankly, blasphemous desire.

Song Lan could be sitting outside any one of a thousand different rundown little shops selling groceries and drinks and snacks and sundries. There is the requisite group of teenagers messing around at the requisite cluster of little tables out front. There is the requisite wall plastered with advertisements, the requisite ancient-looking man inside at the counter with the requisite drama playing on the requisite tiny TV, and Song Lan can’t move.
There’s a group of teenagers messing around out front, and one of them is Xue Yang.

Song Lan has lived as a fierce corpse since the events of canon. Centuries later, he encounters a reincarnated Xue Yang in modern-day China. He decides to befriend the kid, knowing that if he stays by his side long enough, fate will draw Xiao Xingchen to them as well.

“No, no, hear me out,” he laughed. “Laurent will know immediately I told you this, but honesty is the best policy with him, anyways. Cupcakes.”
It took a moment for Damen to swallow his potatoes before he could repeat, “Cupcakes?”
“Cupcakes,” Auguste nodded. “He adores them. Any cupcakes. But for the love of god, don’t buy him tarts. You’ll never hear the end of it. Promise him a never-ending supply of cakes, and he’ll get you to the top of the class. Specifically from the Sweetheart Convegionery.”
Damen perked up. “The vegan bakery? He’s vegan?”
Auguste rolled his eyes. “Not exactly. It’s a long story. Our family owns an equestrian club, Laurent had a pony, he discovered what gelatin is—as I said, stick to cupcakes.”
Damen’s eyebrows reached for his hairline as he barely restrained his laughter. He suddenly felt much more interested in getting more time with the school’s beautiful genius.
