Summary
Sans dedicates every waking moment of his life to keep his little brother safe, happy, and blissfully ignorant of their father's depravity. He lives for the moments he can steal away with Papyrus and pretend their life is normal, happy. But as Gaster's stranglehold on Sans' life begins to loosen, he finds more to live for. He finds himself fighting back with disastrous consequences. And for the first time he's willing to risk everything for a chance at not just surviving, but actually living.
Grillby has loved Sans from a distance, not wanting to complicate the young mans' life further. While he doesn't know the depth of Gaster's hold on Sans' psyche, he knows Sans doesn't feel safe at home and he knows the bruises he carries are deliberate. When Sans starts to butt heads with his father over the budding relationship with the gentle barkeeper, Grillby does his best to comfort and care for him; supporting him through the trials of recovery as their lives become inextricably bound together.
*A prequel to the events in Lucky Strike and Us In Motion which are set in the Underfell AU.
*This is a stand-alone plot.

Summary
Sans secretly thinks he's cursed. Everyone he gets close to other than his family disappears or dies. He tries to keep to himself after tragedy hit far too close over a decade ago. However, fate seems to have either a very cruel sense of humor or other plans in store when he bumps into Grillby.
Grillby feels as cursed as Sans, but he knows the cause of all his pain. He struggles to maintain life between the inevitable lows until the skeleton sets their paths toward an unknowable outcome.
They hold on to each other as their lives; their pasts and future, all entwine in a plot thick with deceit, abuse, and the criminal underworld.

Gaster’s life had been a simple one, built around a routine he found comfortable and familiar. Five days out of the week, he taught physics at the university where he worked, spending his lunch break with his two sons, both students at the same university. Each morning, he stopped by the coffee shop on campus for his morning coffee, spending a little more time there on weekends to work on his latest book. It wasn’t the most exciting routine, but he found it safe, familiar, it was his life.
So when the university hires a new groundskeeper who basically wreck his safe routine…what’s he to make of him? It doesn't help that his appearance seems to have triggered a domino effect that just takes Gaster's life off the rails. This professor needs a nap damnit, he's too old for this.

There is no Sans. He is a figment of your imagination, he isn’t real. Whatever magic you did to destroy the Barrier must have implanted these false memories in your mind, but it is okay, because we are free now and we’ll help you remember, okay?”

Set in the Harry Potter World but ignores mostly the Harry Potter characters themselves or is set in a time way after the canon of the books.
Aka: Monster happened and the wizard world FREAKED OUT because suddenly magic was not a secret anymore and couldn't be kept secret anymore and now they had to deal not just with the Monster (who, remember, were shoved under a MOUNTAIN by HUMAN MAGES for 1000 years) but also with Muggles side-eyeing them for all the shady shit they pulled over the years.
Sans really just wants to earn his diploma in magic and Grillby is with him for the ride. Let's say there are... TENSIONS at Hogwards now.
