Pony is 14 and does NOT know why this guy in his English class won’t speak to him (aka Bryon). Ponyboy sees him drop a pen but he leaves before he can give it back, so Ponyboy has to choose, does he want to be petty and not give the pen back? Or does he want to give the pen back and see if this will change things between them.

Summary
As he jumped off the building, all he wanted was his grief and guilt to go away. He wanted his bruises gone, his past erased, and all he wanted was the warm embrace of his mother. Such things, though, aren't granted to people like Ponyboy, of course. All he wanted was peace, and now he was left with a life much more confusing than the one he had before.
