Benni leans back as Rey steps forward, reaching for the red ribbon dangling by her collarbone.
“Relax, silly,” Rey chides, fingers quick to unravel the ribbon completely before she begins looping it back together around the end of Benni’s hair. “I’m not gonna pull your braid.” She tilts her chin toward Benni, eyes more an olive-like green in this light; just a flicker before they squint from the sun. “Unless you’d like me to.”
Rey smiles just as Benni feels a slight tug at her scalp.

“You’ve done this before? Confessed?” Rey’s question registers, perhaps taking a second or two longer than it really should, and he nods, eyes following the movement to her fingers working down the buttons of her shirt. “Maybe you should take a dip with me then. Maybe you’ll never have to confess again.”
Her top joins the shorts rumpled on a nearby rock, and then she’s reaching for the hem of her singlet, tugging up, pulling it over her head. He should look away. He should give her privacy while she strips down to near-nothing right in front of him. He doesn’t. “I think I’m beyond the reach of priests and ancient waters.”

Ironically, finding out that she's deeply afraid of isolation does the very opposite; leading her to accompany the Head Boy atop the Astronomy tower, counting stars and studying constellations on Christmas Eve.
"Since when do Hufflepuffs' have no loyalty and abandon their friends?"
As it turns out, they're not so different despite house, class and academic success. But of course, this isn't a surprise; they were, after all, once close friends. And fear has a funny way of making people brave.

His lips were gentle at her ear in contrast to the warm hands at her shoulders, gripping tight to manoeuvre her body around swiftly, suddenly confronted with the image of herself. Flushed cheeks, hair unravelled, body shapeless and thin. "And this too." One hand drifted from her shoulder, down her arm to wrap around her own, guiding it up and across to her opposite side, tugging her back flush to his front as his head dropped to the exposed expanse of her neck. "Never listen to what they say—I'll tell you all you need to know, my sweet."
With Mr. Benjamin Solo, Rey always felt stuck in a nightmare. Or maybe it was a daydream.
