Summary
The water burns, but Riko does not adjust the temperature. She lets it sear her skin as she rubs her limbs raw, trying to wash away the blood and the dirt and the memories. She imagines everything shriveling in the heat, like fire stripping away her outer shell until she is left with only the skeleton of herself. She imagines this is the way to heal, to find whatever still lives inside of her.
There must be something, right?
She didn’t go through with the merger; she is still Amanai Riko. But…she isn’t sure she even knows what that means anymore.
(Or maybe she never knew.)
riko survives, at the cost of geto's life. tsukumo helps her see that her life has meaning beyond being a star plasma vessel.

Summary
Shoko puts a hand on the doorknob, knowing she had made her decision before she had even walked into this room. In fact, she had made her decision before they had even arrived at the battlefield; knew what she needed to do, if things went this way. She was always going to save him, because Satoru deserved to be saved too.
“Shoko,” Utahime says, voice tense and disbelieving as if she understood that Shoko had already made her choice, that she stood firm in it. As if she couldn’t comprehend why Shoko had chosen it, why she would waste her time trying to resurrect a corpse when living people were dying and needed her help.
Shoko just opens the door.
“You shouldn’t underestimate my friend, Utahime. It’s never gotten you anywhere.”
Or, Satoru Gojo lives.
