Unhappy with some of Dumbledore’s recent appointments, the board of governors volunteers Lucius Malfoy to assess Hermione’s teaching for a term in order to determine if she’s the right fit for the job. Neither of them is happy about it.

“Who’s left? The trolley lady from the Hogwarts Express?”
“Your father.”
Malfoy opened his mouth and then closed it again with a click of his teeth, shaking his head. “You don’t want to do that, Granger.”

They said he was better. She should have known it was a lie. It was the Capitol even with Snow and Coin gone it was still the Capitol, of course they would send him away. Just like they did with anything that didn’t fit their perfect image, just like they did with her. Their Mockingjay burnt and broken, tossed back to 12 as far away as possible. Not fit for their delicate eyes now her duty was done.
What if Peeta wasn't as healed as the Capitol said he was? What if his hijacked episodes keep getting worse? What if Katniss ends up finding comfort in Haymitch’s arms?

With the Quarter Quell looming he makes her a promise, a promise to bring her home. It is a promise he manages to keep, only he doesn't realise just how much they would have to lose before they got there.
