Nezu sipped his tea. “I presume you had a breakthrough?”
Midoriya shook his head. “No, not at all. Instead I learned why you shouldn’t meet your heroes, and hit rock bottom. In the end I decided that if fate seemed destined to come at me swinging, then I should at least swing back…or die trying.”
"So you want to be a Hero out of spite?" Nezu asked.
"At this point it's all that's keeping me going. Well, spite and the drugs." Midoriya replied.
There was a beat. “That was a joke, sir.” Midoriya said, in perfect deadpan.
Izuku is, in addition to a hero otaku, a genius chemist.
