Summary
Tommy is almost six and a half, and has been trying really hard to be good and finally get himself onto Santa’s nice list. Then one day he interrupts two elves who are on a secret mission from the man himself, looking for something hidden in his guardian’s house.
Tommy helps them out, of course. But this sets into motion a chain of events he could never have imagined – and leads to a gift he had never dared to put on his list.

Summary
“Tommy, Phil loves you.” Technoblade can almost see Tommy’s heartstrings snapping one by one inside of his fragile chest.
“I think the last time dad hugged me was when you left. I remember it, because you left and I started to cry, and I think he felt bad.”
Technoblade feels like he’s trying to gather Tommy’s broken pieces in his hands and sift through them, trying to find out how to put them back together.
Or
Technoblade returns home on winter break from University, and he expects to come back to a rowdy home with laughter ringing off of the walls.
Instead, more than half of the lights are off, Wilbur’s scarred, the bruises under Phil’s eyes look like spilled ink, and there’s something so hurt in Tommy’s eyes that it’s hard to look at him.

“Will? What time is it?"
Wilbur takes a second to peer at his watch before turning right back to the page in front of him. “12:58.”
Oh, wow. Tommy’s not sure exactly, but he thinks that means he’s probably gone without sleep for…somewhere in the sixties? Sixty-five hours? Sixty-six?
He thinks he would give anything to sleep, at this point. He’d do all the chores in the tower for the rest of the week – the month, even. He’d let Wilbur put the news on whenever he wants. He’d even let them all insist that he stay home during their next family outing.
But of course, the curse the witch placed on him doesn’t care for negotiations. He’s forced to stay wide awake, whether he likes it or not.

or, Tommy loses the ability to sleep. Completely. It presents a considerable amount of problems - but his family will be damned if they can't find a way to fix it.

“Oh, you know it. It’s a slippery slope, Tony.” Peter begins counting on his fingers as he talks, “first, it’s stealing. Next, I’m thinking of dabbling in some casual arson, and after that?” He throws his hands in the air, shrugging. “Who knows?”
Tony shakes his head, a fond smile carving dimples into his cheeks. “What was it that you called it?” He pauses for a moment to think. “A heist?”
Peter sits up in alarm. “You heard that?” He narrows his eyes. “Just how long were you eavesdropping, exactly?”
“Long enough.”
“Damn. So you’ve figured out my plans to corrupt your daughter into a life of crime, then.”

“Do you want me to sit with you?” Wilbur blurts. He fidgets where he stands. “Just until the storm stops?”
Ohhh, Tommy realizes suddenly. Oh, okay, I see what’s happening here.
He curses himself for not realizing it sooner. Wilbur’s eyes flitting back and forth, his weight shifting repetitively from one foot to the other, the poorly-hidden panic in his words - the man is clearly terrified.
Well, Tommy can very easily put a stop to that.
“Um, yeah actually, could you?” He asks timidly, trying to look nervous.
Tommy doesn’t ever like to show weakness, including when said weakness is actually real - but for Wilbur? For Wilbur, he would pretend to be afraid of anything. He would be the weakest person in the room without a second thought if it meant giving his brother strength.

or, Wilbur is terrified of thunderstorms. Tommy is most definitely not; but when Wilbur comes to him under the ruse of giving him comfort, he guesses he can pretend for his brother's sake.

Technoblade rolls his eyes. “Why don’t you just worry about yourself, and I’ll worry about me.”
Wilbur shrugs, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “Fine by me.”
It is fine by him - that is, until the ride begins screaming in their ears, metal grinding until their cart comes to a horrifying stop, dangling at the very highest point of the wheel.
Wilbur has never been a believer of Murphy’s Law; but this day alone is enough to have him fully convinced.
“Oh my god,” Techno mutters to himself, “oh my god, you gotta be kidding me.”
Wilbur risks a peek over the ledge, and sure enough, the universe is in fact not kidding them. The ride technician is staring at the operating buttons in front of him and quite literally scratching his head. Tommy is looking up towards their cart, openly wincing.
Oh yeah, they’re stuck. They’re stuck big time.
(aka tommy being a brother match-maker by forcing enemies wilbur & techno to go to a theme park with him)

The scream rang like metal through the empty streets, followed rapidly by the sound of rubber soles slapping against the pavement.
Technoblade’s axe was in his hand before he really registered it. Chat leapt ahead of him, reaching through the shadows to surround the kid on a dead sprint towards him.
The kid only nearly managed to avoid slamming into Technoblade with the full force of his sprint. He was panting as he skidded to a stop, his pale cheeks flushed as he stared up at Technoblade.
“You’re the Blade.”
Technoblade ignored his stunned declaration. He caught the kid by the shoulder, yanking him behind him and shielding him with his body. “What is it?” he demanded, peering into the darkness. “What’s wrong?”
The kid shrugged off his grip.
“Oh, it’s fine,” he said nonchalantly, as if his voice wasn’t still hoarse from screaming bloody murder. “There’s no one there.”
Technoblade blinked. Every hair still stood on end until he took in the boy’s words. “What?”
“There's no one there,” the kid repeated impatiently. “I just needed your attention.”
Or, three times Tommy cries wolf, and one time he means it.

“Techno,” Tommy asks, resisting the urge to wring his hands together. “Why did you decide to do this? To start a bakery, I mean.”
Techno doesn’t pause at that, but his movements slow, for just a moment. His hands press into the dough below him with a slow and deep consistency. “Knew that one day, there’d be a ratty street kid starvin’ himself out here.”
“I was not ratty,” Tommy grumbles, crossing his arms and glaring.
This gets Techno to pause, turning to deadpan at Tommy with his eyebrow raised.
“I was not!”
“You still are,” Techno rumbles, turning back to his dough. From the mouth of almost anyone else, it would be mean and bitter. From Techno, it only sounds fond.

Then another man is bounding over. Tall, skinny, just like Tommy, except a little bit taller. Brown curls pile upon his head and over his forehead. Tommy can see a strong nose, and a strong chin, and everything clicks as the man leans into Techno’s space and starts excitedly showing him the contents of a brown bakery bag.
“Oh my god! This is perfect!” Tommy exclaims, drawing the attention of the new, cooler man. Cooler because Tommy actually looks like this guy, a little bit, despite the man’s brown eyes and rounded glasses resting upon his nose.
“Excuse me,” Tommy says eagerly, practically bouncing on his feet. “Will you be my pretend-brother?”

After getting into trouble at school, Tommy has to take his brother, Phil, to Parent's Night—except Phil is always working, and always exhausted, and Tommy doesn't want to burden him...
He'll just have to find a different brother for Parent's Night instead.

His eyes flicker over all of the boy’s features—his round, blue eyes, lashes fluttering, eyes shifting. His strong chin and nose, not…completely dissimilar to Wilbur’s. Golden curls, curving and waving down Tommy’s forehead, twisting around his ears.
Wilbur can feel his own curls do just the same.
A sort of airy insanity fills Wilbur’s chest as he brings a shaky hand towards Tommy’s hair. So similar to his own.
The barked laugh comes out so quick Wilbur almost chokes on it.
Holy shit.
This is his son.
He’s a fucking father.

Wilbur awakes in a hospital bed with no memory of the past few years. The only thing he knows is that Tommy—passionate, stubborn, worried—has got to be his son.

“I’m not tired,” Tommy complains into Phil’s fur, but Phil isn’t having it. He simply purrs in apology and licks the tangles out of Tommy’s curls.
It’s silent long enough that Phil finally starts to give into the haze of sleep.
Then, “It’s cold, Phil.”
It is. It is cold.
Phil prays his own fever is enough to keep Tommy warm through the night.

It's hard for Phil, a cat, to look after a young toddler. It's even harder as the pair lives on the streets, getting colder by the day as winter steadily approaches.
Then the pair get picked up by a tall witch, and his tusked familiar. In the midst of a magical home, Phil learns about himself, cares for Tommy, and struggles with a sense of guilt and self-worth.
