Ed felt his heart stumble a bit in his chest. A Roy Mustang who wasn’t cocksure, ambitious, a fucking iron fortress, was a man Ed hardly even knew. He’d seen some of it—the soft heart beneath—under Central Command. Down there the rage on Mustang’s face was as familiar to Ed as breathing. Now, he didn’t know what to do with Mustang’s trepidation. Summary
In the aftermath of the Battle for Earth, Garrus and Shepard are separated: one stranded on a planet with the other survivors of the Normandy and the other struggling for life in the wreckage of the Citadel. Without their partner, they each learn that Shepard is - or at least was - pregnant: Shepard during the medical interventions that saved her life and Garrus when his rampant paternal hormones lead him at odds with his fellow crew. Both try to survive, despite the odds being very much stacked against them.
