Andrew laid Samira down right in the middle of the bed. She forced his bloodied shirt off and set it by her hip, inches away from his knee. A streak of doglike devotion flared through him when he took in how much blood had transferred onto her from all this: even when she removed her shirt, blood was smeared on her waist from where he’d held her, and her hands and wrist were painted from her handling of their clothes. Even so, it was nothing compared to the man above her.
“You’re not dirty,” Samira spoke, finally. “You’re just… devoted. Besides, it’s been a while. It’s good for you to get out, remember?”

“Yeah,” he said softly.
His eyes tracked her curls splayed across the pillow she had brought from Seattle. He looked over at the bedside table he had bought and assembled before her arrival, now cluttered with her various pill bottles, chapsticks, claw clips, and loose change. He thought of the boxes littering the hallway, and the quiet reality that they were going to spend months, maybe even years, together in this space.
No more hurried conversations in the ambulance bay at PTMC. No more hotel rooms booked just so she could get out of her shoebox apartment to sleep in a king size bed with him.
“I’d rather be here with you,” he admitted quietly, leaning down to press one more kiss to her lips.

Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. His throat ached, exacerbated by a heaving dry cough, and his nose was refusing to make a choice between runny and stuffed up.
A soft voice rang out as the door opened. “Jack, don’t freak out. It’s just me. I used the key.”
Samira had a key. It was too early in their relationship for her to have a key, probably, but that didn't stop Jack from sliding one on her keychain after the second night she spent there.
