The hard thing about AU fics is that you really have to consider the personality of your characters. Its so easy to change up their context too much and suddenly they're all OOC, and well, Ivcoloredmagic succeeded and succeeds in spades!!! The star of the show here is the reimari character interactions because they're all just so good!!!, and the prequel How to Make Friends in Five Easy Steps! (Results May Vary) is really really up there as one of the best reimari works of the fandom.
