Sand learned that it had less to do with it being a “rare occurrence” and more to do with the soulmate being too humiliated to broadcast it to the world.

    When he looked at his soulmate’s wrist, it didn’t say “Sand”; instead, his name was crossed out entirely. The name “Mew” was written sloppily in black marker, lying just below where his name should be. Ray had created a faux soulmark.
