But Corazon, or Donquixote Rosinante, whatever the hell he was calling himself nowadays, was doomed to a never ending revolving door of plans not going his way- not to mention accidentally adopting a small army of traumatized kids.
Or, a fix-it fic where the author keeps throwing kids at this poor 10' fire hazard until they all develop a healthier relationship with family, or the ship they're on sinks. Whichever comes first.

Rosinante knew, as vaguely as any child in Mariejois knew, that Celestial Dragons were supposed to be different from humans - better, gods. It was something they had been taught from the cradle, something that was repeated to them by stuffy tutors and even stuffier relatives. Slaves were nothing because they were humans, tainted, wretched beings good only to do their bidding. They were better. More. Evolved. And the reason for that was in their blood, in the secret lying in their bones.
Sometimes Rosinante fantasized he could feel it, something clawing under his skin, roaring in his bones, screeching in the marrow of his being. Something wild. Something untamed.
The animal form all Celestial Dragons had.

Rosinante does not die in the snow of Minion Island. Instead, the danger his kid is in triggers something - something that should not have happened - a change that he had never in a million years imagined he'd go through. Vegapunk’s creations are beyond comprehension. Even his failed inventions can be leagues beyond comprehension. This is important, and dangerous.
In short: Corazon had one last mission. He wanted to grab the kid and run the moment he heard the name D, but he had to wait one more day. Who knows, maybe this failed invention would help him cure Law.
AKA: A weapon that lets you see the future changes everything. Pity it only shows the original concept for the future before a crazy duo decided to change fate. Cannon is going to be ruined, and lives saved.
