Eddie nods.
“I’m telling you now, even though I know it’s pointless, because you never listen to anything I say. Ever.”
Eddie nods again.
“Please. I am begging you. Do not fuck our new roommate.”
“Why the fuck would you say that?” Eddie hisses, cheeks aflame again. “What is wrong with your-”
“That’s all I’m saying,” Gareth interrupts airily, hands up in mock surrender. “No further objections. You’re just a natural disaster, and I’d rather keep the apartment a conflict free zone, so.”---
Eddie and Gareth require two new roommates (must be okay with illegally housed cats, must be chill with late night band practices). Robin and Steve require a place to live, and have little to no other options.
Months down the line, Eddie still finds himself tongue tied and avoidant around his very hot-probably-straight-weirdly-intense new cohabitation buddy, which is all very well and good- until they end up snowed in together during a powercut, and are forced to get a little cozy together <3- Language:

"I knew I liked girls," Robin says, "because I wanted to kiss girls.”
“Yeah. But how did you know it was more than the normal amount?”
“…the normal amount,” she repeats.
“Well, sure.” Steve scrubs a hand through his hair. “Everyone wants to kiss everyone a little bit, right? Like. How did you know it was more than the normal heterosexual amount?”
Robin cannot believe she’s going to have to say this out loud. She glances around the empty store just to make sure no one has somehow teleported in during the last two minutes.
“Steve. Steven. There is no normal heterosexual amount of wanting to kiss people of the same gender.”
He crosses his arms. “Well, that can’t be right.”

Summary
It’s 6 months or so after the dust settles down that Steve starts to worry about Derek’s new friend. The kid’s been devoted to Steve ever since Steve pulled him out of Vecna’s caves, and with Henderson newly off at college, Derek helps to fill a void in Steve’s life he’d been slightly terrified would swallow him up whole.
So when Steve goes to pick up Derek for baseball practice one afternoon and overhears the kid in his room seemingly deep in conversation with another imaginary friend, he definitely starts to panic a bit. Isn’t sure what to do - he contemplates calling Nance but she’s off at Emerson, Joyce and Hop are too busy with their new life together and the last thing Steve wants to do is ruin their happy ending with something like this. For all he knows, this “Mor” figure Derek talks to really is nothing but an actual imaginary friend.
