Vernon wasn't sure how he'd missed it, because now that he was seeing it, it was obvious. He didn't see Seungkwan as delicate or something—despite his limp wrists and iced coffees and intricate skincare routine, Seungkwan was his jock boyfriend, not the other way around—but careful was just how Vernon had always treated small things, like cats or kids or Jihoon's outward displays of affection; that was why all of those things liked him so much.
Between developing a consistent workout routine and not quite having stopped growing yet, Vernon's pretty big now. And that's not surprising, but he hadn't understood that it would also mean that Seungkwan would be smaller than him. When the realization hits him, he isn't quite sure what to do.

There’s a snowflake in Seungkwan’s eyelashes. His face is scrunched up like he’s trying not to cry. He’s the prettiest thing Hansol has ever seen.
“What the fuck,” Seungkwan protests, and he looks outrageously angry, which is how Hansol knows he isn’t. “Chwe Hansol, explain yourself.”

This is a dream, Seungkwan reminds himself, though it’s a kind of dream he’s never had before, all sharp-focus and turning stomach, butterflies swimming through guilt like a smoke screen. It’s not real, and it’s probably best to just play the part for now. “I’m fine,” Seungkwan says before he can stop himself, “sorry, I just have a headache. How was your, um— work, babe?”
