Summary
After years imprisoned, Princess Azula vanishes into the Forgetful Valley. Fire Lord Zuko sends Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors to bring her back, dead or alive.
Two years of fruitless searching leave Suki haunted by failure, her determination curdling into obsession. When Zuko pulls her from the mission and sends her to Ember Island under the guise of rest, she finds herself adrift. Then she meets Natsumi, a stranger far removed from the war, beautiful and steady in ways Suki no longer feels she deserves.

Raven stared at the digital clock in her wall. The red numbers mocked her. She was about to turn seventeen, this was her last chance to get her words, her soulmark. She wasn’t worried, she had been with Finn for years, she loved him and no one else. He was everything to her. She was sure she would get his words and that, one day soon, he would get hers. But as the minutes trickled by she started feeling a little worried. What if she didn’t get her words at all?
In her mind, getting someone else’s words wasn’t an option. She would either get Finn’s words, or no words at all. There were no other options… or so she thought.
She was starting to panic when she felt a comforting burn spread across her chest. She rushed to stand before the mirror and lifted her shirt. Right there, over the left side of her ribcage, were her words.
Words that she was sure Finn could never and would never say.

“Her reaction was odd,” Costia said. You frowned.
“How?”
“She said she noticed that I’m fond of you. She asked me why I’m resisting it." You were surprised. You had been waiting for someone to come and tie you to a tree for falling in love with the Queen.
“She would be okay with something happening between us?” You asked. Costia looked at you, her hands behind her back, you knew she was keeping them there to avoid touching you.
“She said that I should do this if it would make me happy,” Costia said. You didn't get to feel happy, not with how she was frowning.
“Why do you look upset?”
“I just can’t help this feeling… Something is wrong, Raven.” She held onto her chest, her hand over her heart like she was trying to keep it from falling off the space between her lungs. You rested your forehead against hers and breathed deeply. You had never been so close.
“Kiss me. I’ll show you there’s nothing wrong, not with us.”
You knew that was not what she meant. You didn’t care. You kissed her anyway.
