Summary
The shocked faces and aghast looks in the hall of fire still brought a smile to his face. Nissi and neri of this age were so delightfully and easily shocked. Although even Geruil's bravery faltered before the Lord of Imladris and so far none had inquired on Lord Elrond's opinion on the matter. A pity really. For if anyone in this day and age should comment on the matters of the House of Feanor, it was him.
"I will not entertain the thought. No Geruil, I won't. The periannath are not the descendants the Lady Haleth and Caranthir Feanorion. Wherever and how often you hear this tale it will not make it anymore true."

Summary
"It will grow tall and strong in time," Atya had told Erestor at the funeral after they and his cousin - his mother's nephew - planted the sapling together. "And it will shelter many men and elves and beasts alike, just like how your mother had sheltered her people."
Though those words were said in comfort to Erestor, his father drew no solace from them for himself. He was an elf who had just lost his mortal wife for eternity, and there was no quick cure to heal the ills of such grief. Atya had stood vigil by the little tree for an entire turn of the Sun and Moon, then he retreated inside his tent and had not left it since.
--------Days after the funeral of his mother Haleth, Erestor gets a visit from an uncle he's meeting for the first time and receives a gift that has missed his parent's wedding until it is far too late.
