Summary
At the cusp of victory: failure. The final battle with Elgar’nan ends in catastrophe as the Last of the Evanuris shatters the Archon’s palace with the power of blight. Yet shackles of affection are shackles all the same, and love compelled by magic is a compulsion still. Jude finds himself caught between an unnamable urge to protect the Sun Himself and to bring forth the empire his God aches for, and his desire to protect the innocent and beat back the Blight. Not to mention his worry for his friends, who have all inexplicably rallied under the banner of the duplicitous Fen’Harel.
