Summary
The year was 1931.
The Great Depression left a trail of hardship that was felt around the world, and the Island of Sodor was no exception.
With little else to do, the drivers of the North Western Railway spend their days making small talk between deliveries and getting to know each other as if for the first time. Henry is back after his accident with the Kipper, but it seems that his time away has changed more than just his engine. Meanwhile, it’s that time of year when James has trouble sleeping, though no one really knows why.
Then, two brothers arrive from the Mainland, looking for work on the railway. Shortly afterward, strange things begin to happen. As questions pile up, James and Henry set out to discover what—or who—is behind it all.

Summary

Summary
Things haven't been going well for the group since they left the Emerald City, and the path to Kiamo-Ko is a long one.
The Tin Man presses on, determined to reach the witch's castle and take his revenge.
Scarecrow follows behind, but now quiet and secluded in whatever thoughts scarecrows might have with no brain.
And Dorothy is just there, not knowing what's right or wrong at this point.She's heard it a million times since arriving in Oz: "No one mourns the wicked". But, maybe, if you look close enough, there's something else to remember someone by... right?
OR: Boq and Dorothy have a heart to heart before reaching Kiamo-Ko, and Boq realizes that not everyone is as eager for revenge and hatred as he thought.

Edward and James are mixed traffic engines of similar size, with tall black funnels, buffers at the front, and tenders at the back.
James fancies himself one of a kind, for better or worse; a most singular engine indeed. But like the sun in the evening sky, with the moon not far behind, Edward is a grounding constant. A friend, a back engine, a banker, a pilot, a companion - he is all those things to him and more.
It's been over 20 years since Edward saved him, and even longer than that since the red engine found him at his side for the first time, when he couldn't do it alone. And they've been entangled ever since, two lives tied together.

With Arthur, Murdoch and Emily helping out, he’s barely doing anything. Luckily for James, none of his friends will let him fall into the same slump Edward once found himself in.
