“If it's going to be one singular perfect night,” Armand leaned back, opening his eyes and chewing at his lip as his gaze kept cycling between Daniel’s eyes and his lips. “We should have one singular perfect kiss.”
“And how do we accomplish that?” Daniel raised a brow, willing to hear out the idea even though everything in him screamed to just close the scant bit of distance separating them and be done with it.
“We wait,” Armand said with a certainty that Daniel was desperate to change. “Until the end of the night,” he continued with a smile. “And before that we can have the prelude.” Armand’s eyes darted down Daniel’s mouth as his own tongue slipped out to wet his lower lip. “The drumroll.”

“I'm starting to remember it, you know?” Daniel hates the vulnerable edge in his own voice, unable to hold it back as his mind flashes with the few bits of memory he's been able to recover on his own.
“Yet another motive for my murder,” Armand's voice remains as unmoved as his body.
“Years, a fucking decade,” Daniel is getting close to yelling and he's pretty sure he can feel blood dripping down his arms from his claws. “You took a fucking decade of my life.”
“It was twelve years–” Armand corrects and Daniel's heart seizes.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” he swears under his breath as Armand just keeps talking.
“And I did not take all of it, Mr. Molloy.”
“Oh, so it's still Mr. Molloy these days?” Daniel scoffs, prying his claws from his own skin with great effort. “Whatever happened to “Beloved”?”
