She said every human had a connection to the earth’s spirit, but most were deaf to it. Gen and his grandmother, though - theirs ran deep. Deeper than reason, deeper than blood.

Zanka snorts. “Was there ever a difference, with us?”
“Nah. Guess not.”
Mankira draws idle shapes at the base of his throat and the rush is electric and dizzying and for a second Zanka loves him fiercely. Wants to devour him whole. Wants to rip out his heart with his bare hands and watch the light leave his eyes.

Whatever Jabber was about to say is promptly shut down by Zanka jumping from the roof and slamming directly into his back.
"Ignore 'im," Zanka quickly throws out, dusting off his clothes, "He's new."
Which was obviously a lie. Jabber joined the Raiders way before Zanka did.
Zanka and Jabber go on a little shopping trip together. It goes about as well as Zanka expects when doing anything involving Jabber.

People got lost here all the time. The place was a maze. Usually adults, looking to buy something illegal and ending up getting sold illegally instead. Kids were different. They cried and panicked. They, for sure, didn’t fight back.
And yet this one was.
He grabbed the kid and started walking, tugging him along without much thought. He didn’t know where he was going. Or why. He just knew he wanted to spend more time with him.
There was a tug in his chest. He felt… happy.
Zanka.
That was the kid’s name.

Summary
Zanka didn't mind that he was blind.
He was used to not seeing, he'd come to terms with it years ago. He had a good life with the Cleaners, he had a lot of friends, and an amazing vital instrument. All things considered, things could've been worse.
And everything really was fine until a stranger bumped into him on the street, setting him off with his irritating words and even more infuriating actions. Not to mention, the stranger just wouldn't stop following him around...
(Blind Zanka AU where he accidentally meets Jabber on the street and the Raider immediately becomes obsessed with Zanka)
