Nick squatted down in front of Charlie. He wasn’t sure exactly what to say, but settled on a soft, “Hi.”
Charlie’s head shot up and Nick was momentarily taken aback by the beauty in front of him. His eyes were mesmorizing, deep blue, and full to the brim with tears. The red tint to his cheeks from the cold and tears didn't detract from the elegant planes of his facial features. Simply put, the man in front of him was beautiful, probably the most exquisite human Nick had ever seen before. Nick had to swallow and shake his head, this wasn’t the time or the place.
“Hi,” Charlie squeaked in a small, terrified voice.
“Are you okay?” Nick asked, feeling like it was a very stupid question based on the current circumstances.
“How much of that did you hear?” Charlie asked, voice shaky.
“A lot of it,” Nick admitted. “I’m sorry I didn’t step in any sooner, I wasn’t sure what was happening.”
“S-sorry,” Charlie said and Nick frowned.
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry about, that asshole seems like a piece of work. I’m sorry he treated you like that.”

Nick's breathing became uneven, his eyes filled with horror.
With a reassuring smile that seemed forced to Nick, Mr. Ajayi took two steps towards him and laid his hands gently but firmly on his shoulders. “We’re going to find him. He'll be alright.” Nick nodded briefly without believing him. With a last squeeze to his shoulders Mr. Ajayi turned and vanished. For a moment Nick couldn't move. The realisation that something might have happened to Charlie knocked the air out of his lungs. After a deep, unsteady breath he took out his phone and sent a message to the group chat.
Charlie’s missing. Call me.
Then he continued his search.“We’ve stabilised him. His condition is still critical, but so far we´ve done all we can.”
