Lumine, beloved maid and caretaker of the Alekseev family’s children, put her heart and soul into ensuring that the younger members of the family blossomed as upstanding members of society.
But when the young Princess Tonia is targeted in an undercover assassination attempt, she is forced to partner with their too-charismatic older brother to save the royal family from falling into ruin.
Prince Ajax, unfortunately, continued to leave her with more questions than answers.

“What if I hadn’t been there? What if-” She paused for a moment, biting her tongue before her anger faded into frustration. “What if I hadn’t come in time?”
Childe watched as the burning flames in her gaze cooled into something softer, something that made his chest tighten and pulse quicken at the same time.
“You were worried.” He realized, and the brief flash of sadness in her eyes was enough to confirm his suspicions.
She was worried about him. Lumine had always known that Childe was able to take care of himself, so to see her this worried must mean that it really was a close call.
And that seemed to have scared her more than she would admit- or he had expected.
“I was.” Lumine confirmed, a sigh following her words as her gaze dropped to his wound, eyes growing dull. “A lot.”
Childe watched her expression for a few more moments, wanting to engrave her expression into his memory.
She was worried. She cared.
And seeing that was more comforting after weeks of recovering alone with only her on his mind than anything else could ever be.

Summary

A hero and her nemesis stuck in a dilemma between their emotions and beliefs. Destiny works in mysterious ways to bring them together against all odds.

Events take place after the Inazuma archon quest and the rest is creative liberties with some tinkering to the established lore ( the genshin anthology date is implied in the beginning of the story)

Also sorry if the chapters change a lot this is my first fic and I'm kinda writing this for myself to scratch the itch this ship has had on my brain.
